the werewolf who is terrorizing the countryside is a poor sap who was experimented on by some asshole doctors. this movie got me thinking about the werewolf character itself. in the original 'the wolf man' chaney's character was also tragic. this movie made a big point of building sympathy for this guy. i was sure hoping for a happy ending for him. with that in mind, i don't know if the ending was great or crappy. too bad i'm leaning toward crappy. 6/10
