there's another universal movie next weekend. i don't know how many more i can handle. these movies don't seem to have been made to scare anyone. they are really just stories about some dudes who happen to be misunderstood, rampaging monsters. there's no real sense of fear. somebody gets their throat ripped out (off camera) and villagers get upset for a minute. there's no real tension at all. it's really just a character study done via shotgun approach. i guess that makes it a characters study.
