there must be only about 20 minutes of unrepeated dialogue in this movie. i don't know...i guess it was okay. it certainly didn't blow me away. but i don't feel that it was a waste of time either.
as for the quote, i believe what morgan freeman meant was 'for men neither live nor die in vain' since he didn't seem to be talking about two things that men neither live nor die in vain for.

I'm under the impression that most of the Morgan Freeman voice-over was taken directly from the book, which as you know, was written a really long time ago.
