phantasm - dude put an insane asylum after a run-in with 'the tall man' is released and sets out to find/kill that guy with his buddy whose family was blown up. this was way better than i expected it to be. i wasn't a huge fan of the original. i thought it was just okay. this one was better. the twist ending did not surprise me for two reasons: i remembered the original trailer and (real spoiler) the hitchhiker was way out of ugly guy's league. 7.5
toxic - super-dork is bullied, falls into toxic sludge, and becomes a muscle-bound hero to the downtrodden. silly but fun. on a related note: i started to watch part 2 and it was just too retarded for me. 5
