Chris said: "Surprising that the Pope allowed this movie to be made. A body is found by Olivia Williams in a tomb in the Holy Land. The body has characteristics of Jesus Christ. Young hotshot priest Antonio Banderas is sent to investigate. Antonio begins to question his faith. Meanwhile, religious zealots are terrorizing the city. In one terrorist attack, an explosion blows up a moped. Flaming moped nearly kills Olivia William. Not the greatest movie ever made or even the goodest, but worth seeing if not for the audacity of the story, then for a flaming moped. Recommended"

although i wouldn't recommend this to others, i would recommend it to myself. that may not make very much sense but i mean i can certainly see why christopher recommended it to me. i agree with his "highest quality exciting film reviewing" on all but one point - the audacity of the story. i thought the story was very audacious and i wondered through much of the movien how the filmmakers would squirm out of the situation. well, if i understood it correctly, they did it with a stone tablet.
at the end, after the bones are already blown up (good! that makes the authenticity moot, right?) they blow the tomb up. when it blows up, a stone tablet is dislodged that suggests to the viewer that the body was that of a zealous follower of jesus named david (or at least his rich father was a zealot.) it was given a total of 1.2 seconds of film but it really soured the the whole thing for me. if that single shot was cut out of the film i could forgive the mediocre and contrived writing and the made-for-tv feel of the movie and the at times crappy actiing. in fact, maybe i'll just pretend the shot was not in the film and go ahead and recommend it to somebody like me - just ignore that stone tablet business.

Did I post this on the internet somewhere. I don't really remember the phrase "highest quality exciting film reviewing" but it sounds pretty good to me. Was this from when I was posting my dad's film reviews? Where did I do that? I have a terrible memory for my own thoughts and ideas. Actually I don't even remember watching this movie. I remember knowing what it was all about, but that is as far as it goes. Maybe I reviewed it without even watching it. I think I'm going to start a film review blog to go with all my other blogs. Seriously, I should get a certificate or plague or something from Blogger.

i'm sure your blogger certificate is forthcoming.
to christopher for outstanding achievement in the field of having several blogs....
you sent me an e-mail on aug. 31, 2001 intitled "highest quality exciting film reviewing" in which you gave a rundown of several of your own movies.
i've slowly (very slowly) been watching through them for the past 6 years.

You should forward that email back to me. I always like to look at old emails I wrote, to re-enforce my own notion of how awesome I am at writing emails.
